Mr. Roark began studying the martial arts while in college, and has since studied a variety of
styles and systems to expand his knowledge, most recently with Marudo karate.
In addition, Mr. Roark is certified with the American Council on Martial Arts (ACMA) as an instructor.

Mr. Roark’s current TKD instructor, 10th-Degree Grand Master Tom Thompson, founded the
Ki Il Do Kwan style of Tae Kwon Do in 1993 under Grandmaster Keith Yates and
the auspices of the American Karate And Tae Kwon Do Organization (AKATO).

Ki Il Do Kwan is a distinctly Christian style, with no Eastern-style meditation or other Eastern
religious involvement.  At the student’s option, Scripture memorization is available as part of the
curriculum utilizing the “Protecting The Kingdom” program.

Mr. Roark is currently teaching the Ki Il Do Kwan style of Tae Kwon Do at the
McKinney Towne Lake Recreation Center on Monday nights.
